White: Not So Boring After All

I’ve always thought of white as a boring colour for walls but after I saw this Photo Gallery in House and Home, I changed my mind.

I love how contrasting colours and textures were used to break up the white so that the rooms are not so stark. For example, using concrete for the ceiling or using bricks (painted white, of course) for the walls adds some interest.

Another element I love are some of the windows – they’re functional and add some stunning detail to the rooms. They really brighten up the space and make it more inviting.

Row Houses: Just Right?

Today, I came upon an article in The Globe and Mail on the growing demand for row houses in Vancouver. There have been a lot of condos and single-family houses being built lately but not many row houses – this could change in the near future.

With it being so expensive to live in the city (and condos not offering much space), row houses is a good option for many.

The article said that strata row houses were increasing in popularity so some developers are experimenting with freehold row houses. I think this is a good idea because some people may want a row house but is reluctant to buy because they don’t want to be restricted by rules on how to maintain the exterior and common areas.

Do you think freehold row houses is a good idea?
